Eknath Shinde has been in the spotlight since the BJP-led NDA (Mahayuti alliance) won a massive victory in the recent Maharashtra elections. With all eyes on him regarding the formation of the new Maharashtra government, Shinde, the state’s Caretaker Chief Minister, has been battling a fever and throat infection for the past two days, according to his family doctor. He is currently recovering at his native village in Satara district.
A team of three to four doctors is attending to Shinde in his village, Dr. RM Patre, his family doctor, told news agency ANI.
Shinde has been at the center of attention since the BJP-led alliance’s resounding success in the state Assembly elections, sparking speculation about the next chief minister. After days of uncertainty, Shinde announced earlier this week that he would accept whatever decision Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership make, which paved the way for the BJP to name Devendra Fadnavis as deputy CM. Although no official announcement has been made yet, recent developments suggest that Fadnavis is the likely candidate for the top position.
